素朴ながら美しい、今井政之先生が手がけた輪彩色の象嵌輪花瓶です。フラスコ形のフォルムが優美で、長い頸の上部には一つの耳が手けられている、独特なフォルムに仕上がっています。
肩の部分には、今井先生の代名詞である板象嵌技法が用いられ、輪彩色が美しく表現されています。シンプルな形状に、洗練された技法が融合した仕上がりは、まさに芸術品と言えるでしょう。

今井先生の象嵌は板象嵌で、着色した粘土の板を花瓶本体に嵌め込んで象嵌しています。
板象嵌は、本体との収縮率の違いから大変難しい技法です。

This is a simple yet beautiful inlaid vase made by Masayuki Imai. The flask-shaped form is elegant, and the long neck has a single ear at the top, giving it a unique shape.
The shoulder area uses Mr. Imai's signature board inlay technique, and the ring colors are beautifully expressed. The simple shape combined with sophisticated techniques can truly be called a work of art.

Mr. Imai's inlay is a board inlay, in which colored clay plates are inserted into the vase body.
Plate inlay is a very difficult technique due to the difference in shrinkage rate from the main body.
