宮本三郎（みやもと・さぶろう）は、1905年5月23日、現在の石川県小松市松崎町に生まれ、1935年7月より世田谷区奥沢にアトリエを構えた、昭和を代表する世田谷区ゆかりの洋画家です。

川端画学校で富永勝重、藤島武二、また個人的には安井曾太郎に指導を受け、戦前は二科展を中心に発表を行いながら、雑誌の挿絵や表紙絵の制作でも活躍。戦時中は従軍画家として藤田嗣治、小磯良平らとともにマレー半島、タイ、シンガポールなどに渡り、第2回帝国芸術院賞受賞作品《山下、パーシバル両司令官会見図》（1942年）をはじめ、数々の戦争記録画を制作しました。

戦後は、熊谷守一、田村考之介、正宗得三郎らと第二紀会を設立。生来の素描力を土台に、さまざまに画風を変えながらも、人物を主たるテーマとして制作、晩年は花と裸婦を主題にした豪華絢爛な絵画世界を構築します。獅子文六の小説「大番」の挿絵や、高峰秀子や雪村いづみなど女優や歌手を描いた作品でも人気を博しました。

1974年10月13日、腸閉塞による心臓衰弱のため、69歳で他界。生涯、画家として活躍するだけではなく、金沢美術工芸専門学校（現・金沢美術工芸大学）、多摩美術大学でも教鞭をとり、二紀会では理事長にも就任するなど、後進の育成にも尽力しました。

Saburo Miyamoto was born on May 23, 1905 in what is now Matsuzaki-cho, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, and since July 1935 he has set up an atelier in Okusawa, Setagaya Ward, a place associated with Setagaya Ward, which is representative of the Showa era. I'm a Western painter.

He received instruction from Katsushige Tominaga, Takeji Fujishima, and privately Sotaro Yasui at the Kawabata School of Art, and before the war, he mainly exhibited at Nika exhibitions, and was also active in creating illustrations and cover pictures for magazines. During the war, he traveled to the Malay Peninsula, Thailand, Singapore, and other places as a military painter with Tsuguharu Fujita and Ryohei Koiso, and produced many works including the 2nd Imperial Art Academy Award-winning work ``Conference View of Commanders Yamashita and Percival'' (1942). I created a war record painting.

After the war, he established the Daiki-kai with Moriichi Kumagai, Konosuke Tamura, Tokusaburo Masamune, and others. Based on his innate ability to draw, he created works with people as his main theme, although he varied his painting style.In his later years, he created a gorgeous world of paintings with flowers and nude women as his subjects. His illustrations for Bunroku Shishi's novel ``Oban'' and his works depicting actresses and singers such as Hideko Takamine and Izumi Yukimura also gained him popularity.

He passed away on October 13, 1974 at the age of 69 due to heart failure due to intestinal obstruction. Throughout his life, he was not only active as a painter, but also taught at Kanazawa College of Art (currently Kanazawa College of Art) and Tama Art University, and was also the chairman of Nikikai, where he was instrumental in nurturing the next generation. I also tried my best.
