[About Souki Ishikawa]
On August 13, 1837 (September 12, 1837), Kameyama was hit by a storm and suffered great damage and caused a great famine (Tenpo's Great Famine). Considering the situation in the territory, Souki promptly gave 4,000 stones of brewed rice to the poor, and lent 3,000 stones of rice to a wealthy farmer to sell it at a low price to prevent the rice price from rising.
The Shogunate highly evaluated Souki's response to famine, and there was an offer to recommend Souki to the old age in 1849. He did not go to old age because of the feudal affairs.
He died in Tokyo on November 1, 1886, and was 72 years old.
