今井政之の作品、蛙亀文象嵌窯変花入は、京都のアトリエで生み出された美しい花入れです。見た目通り、蛙と亀が象嵌されており、特に蛙の目には、あの愛らしい表情が生き生きと表現されています。
そんな花入れを生み出すまでには、驚くべきストーリーがあります。今井さんは、京都の庭にいたモリアオガエルを見たことがきっかけで、蛙や亀をモチーフに作品を創り始めたそうです。そんな思い入れが込められた作品は、どんなお部屋にも映える存在感があります。
また、塩釉窯変という技法が使われているため、焼き上がった際の色合いが微妙に異なるという特徴があります。特別な日や大切な人へのギフトにはもちろん、自分で飾っても気持ちがほっと落ち着く、心に寄り添うような作品です。

This is an inlaid work made on the theme of the forest green tree frog that lived in the studio in Kyoto.
Plate inlaying is a more difficult technique than line inlaying due to the difference in shrinkage between the inlaying fabric and the main body fabric. In addition, kiln transformation is performed using salt glaze.

The teacher puts the real thing in front of you and carefully observes it to make a work.
This is a work I made after discovering a forest tree frog in the garden of my atelier in Kyoto.

Masayuki Imai's work, Frog and Turtle Inlaid Kiln Variant Vase, is a beautiful vase created in his atelier in Kyoto. As you can see, the frog and turtle are inlaid, and the frog's eyes are especially vivid with their lovely expressions.
